You might be able to find better deals on eBay or Craigslist, but those carry the risk of fraud, and Gazelle performs a point inspection that the company says ensures everything should be functional. During checkout you can opt to register for a Gazelle account or make a purchase as a guest.
The former gets you better tracking information, but isn't strictly necessary. Gazelle only ships to U. They do however promise that "most" orders are delivered within five business days, and that certainly proved true in our case. Our order was placed on a Friday night, and arrived on a Wednesday afternoon. There are also two-day and overnight shipping options for people willing to pay more.
The iPhone we bought came shipped in a non-descript box without any of Apple's original packaging. Instead it was sealed in bubble wrap with a protective sticker over the screen, and further sandwiched in between two foam layers.
One disappointment was that while the device did come with a freshly-wrapped wall adapter and Lightning cable, Apple's EarPods were nowhere to be seen.
Gazelle does warn you to that effect if you poke around on their website, and used EarPods might be slightly disgusting even if they were cleaned. Still, it's worth considering that cash savings could be offset if you need earbuds and don't already have a pair. The phone itself was in surprisingly good shape.
There was at worst some very light scuffing on the back, but if so, very minute and hard to distinguish with the eye, much less a camera. It could easily have been mistaken for new. The screen was immaculate, and when we powered the phone on it booted as a fresh device, simply awaiting a SIM card and first-time configuration.
The only other initial downsides were the need to unlock the device and get a new SIM card — problems of our own making — and a low battery that we had to charge almost immediately. In the days since the phone's arrival, it's functioned as well as any new hardware. In all, we came away satisfied with both the ordering process and the delivered product. Barring complications, buying from Gazelle can prove to be a good deal for many customers, and a time and hassle saver to boot.
You are, of course, dealing with the caveats of any used iPhone. You'll be paying off-contract prices, and probably have to wait a few months after launch for a current-generation product. Even then the exact configuration you want might be missing. For many people, though, we imagine those would prove to be acceptable sacrifices. For those interested, AppleInsider on a daily basis maintains an organized, live listing of Gazelle's current certified used iPhone inventory as part of its Price Guides, which can also be seen below.
The much-awaited manual control for turning macro mode on or off in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max camera app is now in the beta for iOS China's JD. Major Apple iPhone supplier Foxconn has cautioned that the global chip shortage is likely to continue for longer than previously expected. Here's how it compares to Apple's Intel-based Mac Pro tower, and why folks that rely on that machine may need to consider the laptop as a viable upgrade.
A top star effort. Sold two different iPhones to Gazelle and have gotten paid quickly and the amount I expected both times.
What an awesome service. When you buy from Gazelle, you buy Certified devices and nothing else. When you sell a device to Gazelle, we pay cash, not store credit. Get paid with a check, Amazon gift card, or via Paypal.
You can even receive same-day payment—the fastest in the industry. All Gazelle Certified pre-owned smartphones and tablets are fully functional and must pass a rigorous point quality inspection. We've made it super easy to see just how much your device is worth. And our free shipping boxes are custom fit to keep your electronics safe and secure.
Keep your carrier, or go with a new one. Our phones and tablets are compatible. Very disappointing and they say it takes 5 days to issue a refund once they receive the returned device. This was a complete waste of time. I can tell you that as far as I could see, the screen is fine - I used it everyday before sending it in.
Also, there were almost NO scratches. Their assessment of my phone is just plain wrong. I submitted an offer for my iPhone 7 that was in great condition. It had always been in a case with a screen protector - no scratches to be noted. I declined, and they mailed a phone back. The phone returned to me does have quite a few scratches. I mailed mine in fully charged. I don't trust this company at all. Company revised my phone offer from to stating my phones condition was wrongly indicated.
The phone I traded in was a very gently used Samsung S I chose to decline the shady swapped value and requested to receive the phone back. The phones was shipped back in a cardboard box with NO peanuts, paper, or anything to secure the phone. I am amazed at how horrible Gazelle handled the whole ordeal. Never again! I have never purchased from Gazelle but have sold multiple electronics through their website. Overall, the process was simple and quick.
They gave me what I felt was a fair price. However, once resolved, it did not diminish from the overall experience. It lived up to its excellent reputation. I sent an excellent Samsung phone in. They said they would give me Weeks later they say they will give me I said send it back.
I sent in the cord and brick which were perfect and they didn't return those items with my phone. Hard to resell without original equipment. They are sending me generic cheap ones to replace the higher speed units that come with phones. Cheap ones take forever to charge phones. Not happy with this bait and switch company. Don't bother, sell it yourself.
I sent them everything and then a week later they send me an email saying there are excessive scratches on the phone. There were no scratches on the phone when I sent it in. I told they no chance and had them send my phone back.
Looking at other reviews they do this to everyone just hoping you will accept the low ball offer. What a joke. Don't buy from this company!. I don't know who they hire to do the phones inspection but when they described something in good condition there suppose not to have a deep scratch inside the glass.
If you happen to have a teenager and they tell you the phone doesn't stay charged, you don't really believe them and wait a few months to really check it. Sure enough, you have some time during Covid19 to test it. They're right, but you're past the 30 days. You'd think if you backed your products, you might at least give an exchange. The process went as Gazelle promised, except for one thing: when they received my device, they initially adjusted their offer downward with the erroneous justification that I had sent them a carrier-locked device instead of the unlocked one that I had sent.
They paid what they agreed when I challenged them, but they also caused this entirely unnecessary issue. I've sold a number of phones to Gazelle over the years. But in the last year or two their customer service has gone downhill and their operations have become shady. We sent in a phone in good condition and once they received it they claimed it was "heavily damaged". We rejected the offer and asked for our phone back. It has been over 3 weeks since then and we still haven't received it.
We've contacted them multiple times and got different excuses. The latest is that USPS picked up the package but decided to stop scanning any of them so no one knows where the phone is.
We are just supposed to wait and hope it comes back. I even had one customer service agent that wouldn't even look up my case. Just said we'd have to wait longer because they are busy. I've already sold the phone to Apple for more than Gazelle ever offered. Stay far away from this company. This is the second time I have used Gazelle. Each time it was a quick, easy procedure. They send everything needed with simple directions to follow. There was a small scratch on my phone, so I rated its condition as good.
I received an email saying that my phone was better than my rating, so they added five dollars to my check - not much, but definitely appreciated! They try to get users to send in their phones and low ball them.
I am currently waiting for the return of my phone. I am glad i took photos and video of my phone before I mailed it to them.
Sent them an iPhone 8 in perfect condition. I don't mean "good" it did not have a single flaw. They said they would recycle it. Or I could have them send it back. It's a scam no way they would destroy a perfect phone. The worst customer service ever. Can only speak to a person during business hours and then they won't help you.
Spoke to 2 reps today. The worst being Ryan. Rude, not helpful, not trained to resolve an issue. They do not have the technology to take payment on the phone. The first rep was not understandable. Maybe she wasn't speaking English. Said she was at home. They had no solutions and eventually the products I wanted were sold out. If you have hours of time to waste, want to decipher a strange language, talk to an angry rude employee and visit an archaic website that does not have the technology to tell you why your card declined so you can fix it I said rejected the offer and said send it back to me!
Bit of a bait and switch operation I fear. Long time customer Got a refurb phone fair , speakers didn't work. They offered refund Meanwhile, I bought another phone Good , speakers don't work on this one either and the phone has not been cleaned. Of course they'll let me return it but now I am still waiting on the first return to process and this one to. The customer support agent didn't care.
